ADVENTURES TO EXPLORE

Indian Mountain is great for an easy hike and great views, sledding, disc golf, playing at the playground or a picnic.  Just a short 5-minute drive from Sliver View Lodge.  Search “Indian Mountain Comfort Station” in google maps for directions.

Fishing nearby lakes and reservoirs include Terryall Reservoir,  Jefferson Lake,  Antero Reservoir, and Eleven Mile State Park.  A state fishing license is required for all fishermen age 16 and older.  Fishing licenses can be purchased online at www.cpwshop.com.

Pike National Forest is just beyond the base of Indian Mountain.  While ATV’s are not allowed in Indian Mountain, the national forest is a great place for 4x4 driving and ATV adventures.  Safe target practice is also allowed in the national park.  You are responsible for gun safety and cleaning up all targets, shells, and rounds.

South Park Shooting Range is just down the road on the Elkhorn Rd.  You passed it on the way in, one mile in from HWY 285 on the south side.  It is open sunrise to sundown as long as the gate is open and the road is not drifted shut in the winter.  The shooting range has two 100-hundred yard rifle ranges and two 50-yard pistol ranges.  Please pay $10 at the box near the range hut.

Hike a 14’er or two.  There are six 14er’s within an hour's drive of Silver View Lodge.  Three of them can be hiked in the same day!  Another great mountain hike is that beautiful one right out the window: Mt. Silverheels.  Although not a 14er, it’s close at 13,822 ft. and the view from the top is stunning.

White Water Rafting & Zipline trips out of Buena Vista and Breckenridge for all abilities and adventure levels.

Visit Fairplay.  It’s a small town with a rich history.  We recommend visiting the South Park City Historical Museum to see Fairplay in its prime.  Visit some of the local shops.  Grab a bite to eat at the Brown Burro Cafe, or Millonzi's Restaurant for something nicer, or the local favorite, South Park Brewery for mountain brew and good eats.  Prather’s Market will meet your basic grocery needs.

Go for a drive through the mountains to visit other nearby towns:

Buena Vista- Great town with lots to do.  Mt. Princeton Hot Springs is just a bit further for a fun day playing in the pools or relaxing in the hot springs.  Cottonwood hot springs is close by as well.

Breckenridge-  Beautiful ski town with activities year-round.  Skiing, dogsleds, snowshoeing, tubing, hiking, alpine slide, mountain coaster, restaurants, spas, and more.      Florissant- Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is the big draw to this little mountain town.  A little over an hour drive from Silver View Lodge.  The national monument was set aside to protect one of the richest fossil deposits in the world.
